Accolades pile up for UNE; recognized for dedication to environment and women in STEM
的 University of New England is pleased to announce its inclusion among four newly released college ranking lists: College Raptor’s 2018 Hidden U.S. 宝石, College Raptor’s 2018 Hidden 宝石 for Women in STEM, the Princeton Review’s “Guide to 375 Green 大学,和 Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education U.S. 大学排名.
的 College Raptor “Hidden Gem” distinction recognizes UNE as one of the best 大学 in the country, based on a combination of factors including number of applications received, 毕业率, 校园的多样性, endowment per student and other key metrics as reported by the National Center for Education Statistics. It is the second time that UNE has made the list.
的 Hidden 宝石 for Women in STEM rankings specifically highlight 大学 and universities that are dedicated to encouraging young women in the pursuit of science, 技术, engineering and mathematics degrees. UNE ranked among the top five schools in the country.
的 Princeton Review’s “Guide to 375 Green 大学” features four-year 大学 that have demonstrated a high level of commitment to the environment and sustainability. Data were collected on 629 大学 worldwide regarding their sustainability-related policies, 实践和计划. Subsequently, each school was given a “green rating” score from 60 to 99. Those institutions with a score of 80 or higher were selected for the guide.
的 Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education rankings give UNE a score 343 (with one as the highest) on its list of more than 1,000 U.S. 大学. 的 rankings utilize a balanced scorecard approach, with 15 individual performance indicators combining to create an overall score for each institution. 的re are four broad categories that the performance indicators compose: resources, 学生参与, 结果, 和环境.
的se ratings fall on the heels of five other prestigious rankings for UNE that were released within the past two months: inclusion in the Princeton Review’s 2018 edition of the Best 382 大学, 《正规澳门赌场网络》’ America’s Top 大学, U.S. 新闻 & 世界报道’s list of America’s Best 大学 in the North, 钱 magazine’s list of Best 大学 and a financial ranking of A3 from Moody’s Investors Service.
“的se additional rankings confirm the message proclaimed by the flurry of rankings earlier in the academic year,” said UNE President James Herbert, “that UNE is a topnotch institution of higher learning and, despite its relative youth when compared to some other 大学, it can really hold its own… But these new rankings, 在某些方面, tell us even more about UNE. 的y speak to some of the core values of the university like diversity, equality and concern for the planet.
